Cheshvan

Kilayim of seeds is the prohibition against sowing two different species of seeds in the same field. The Torah forbids mixing wheat and barley, or any other combination of seeds, in a single furrow. This mitzvah applies specifically in the Land of Israel, and its laws are numerous: which species may not be sown together, what distance is required between different plantings, and how much mixed growth must be uprooted. Kilayim teaches that the order of creation is sacred, and each species was created with its own unique purpose. The farmer in the Land of Israel is commanded to honor the boundaries between species, even in the soil.
