Cheshvan

The Ramban counted the settlement of the Land of Israel as a positive commandment from the Torah: 'You shall possess the land and dwell in it' (Bamidbar 33:53). This mitzvah includes inhabiting the Land, working its soil, and fulfilling the mitzvot that depend on the Land. The land-dependent mitzvot are the practical expression of settling the Land: sowing, reaping, pressing grapes, and baking bread - each act carries with it a mitzvah. A Diaspora Jew who cannot perform these acts in his body participates through agents and partnership. The holiness of the Land is not just an idea but a real act, expressed in the daily work of the field and the mitzvot that accompany every harvest.
