Sivan

The two loaves (shtei ha'lechem) are brought as an offering on the festival of Shavuot. Two loaves of bread, baked from the new wheat, are brought as a wave offering in the Temple. This offering is unique: it is the only meal offering that is brought from leavened bread (chametz). All other meal offerings are unleavened, but the two loaves of Shavuot are leavened, expressing the fullness and joy of the wheat harvest. The two loaves are brought on the day of the giving of the Torah, connecting the harvest of the land with the giving of the Torah. The wheat that was forbidden as chadash until the Omer is now, at Shavuot, brought as an offering of bread - the first bread of the new harvest, dedicated in the Temple.
